To launch the K Control Center, click "Start Menu > Settings > Control Center". PC-BSD's control panel is based on KDE's K Control Center, an interface with several categories related to system management in the left pane:

Going through each of these categories with all possible options would be tedious. Let's rather discuss the most common settings that you may find useful! In the left pane, click the following categories to toggle the lower options.
If you are interested in changing the look-and-feel of PC-BSD, KDE-look.org is a useful place to go to. You can find here many other theme's, window decorations, cursors, skins, screensavers etc etc and explanations how to install them.
The "Desktop" section allows you to arrange elements of your desktop, such as the position of taskbars, number of virtual desktop and other minor options.
The "Internet & Network" section lists a number of network utilities that will be discussed later in this guide.
The KDE components allows you to associate file extensions to applications, to define default applications for common services (Web browsing, IM, E-mailing)
You will find a device overview to see what is present on your computer. In this section, you can also adjust your monitor, keyboard and mouse settings.
Adjust regional settings, select language, change keyboard layout and shortcuts, as well as default regional values such as monetary symbol and numeric delimiters.
Manage users and passwords.
Adjust codec options, audio CD settings. Choose and change system sound and bells.
Adjust date and time, install fonts, adjust login screen, manage online updates, remove PBI files.
